Kevin likes to say that Shaqualla was the one who fell head over heels first—but Shaqualla would beg to differ! What started as a casual, “my brother is dating your big cousin, let me see what you’re talking about,” quickly grew into a full-blown Bulldog love story. From high school sweethearts to now, their journey together has been filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories that have led them to this very special moment.

Kevin, the football player—number 7 to be exact—and Shaqualla, captain of the cheerleading squad, shared a love story that felt straight out of a high school movie. She cheered him on through his last years of middle school and throughout high school, creating what seemed like the perfect high school romance.

When Shaqualla went off to college, the distance only made their love grow stronger. While Kevin pursued a different path outside of college, he was always there to support her and watch her flourish through her own journey. Never missing a call, never missing a moment, and always showing up—front and center—at graduation.

As the two grew, so did the challenges and roadblocks, but one thing remained intact: the love they shared for each other. Together, they built a life filled with purpose and family, welcoming two beautiful children, Kaden and Kali. After a decade of love, Kevin popped the question surrounded by Shaqualla’s friends and family at her favorite restaurant, Morton's—a moment that still brings tears to her eyes today. The thought put into this engagement was nothing short of amazing: he timed it perfectly so her hair and makeup were done as she finished up a photoshoot. Every detail was perfectly planned, making it a truly unforgettable moment. While slightly delayed in their wedding planning, they are now excitedly back on the journey to walk down the aisle in August 2026.
